Keeping Our Hood Healthy
Fresh, nutritious food for our neighbors.
The goal of the Keep My Hood Good Community Garden is to provide fresh, nutritious produce for citizens who couldn’t otherwise afford it, improving their diet and overall health. Another primary focus is to educate the students in our program about where food comes from and gain a basic introduction to environmental issues, gardening principles, and the overall importance of communal spaces. We regularly host educational events, harvest sessions, and safe events for the youth in our community.
Sharing a community garden gives people a chance to connect with their neighbors and meet new people. We understand that creating spaces where people feel personally invested helps gain a sense of ownership and community spirit.
Volunteer Opportunities.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with KMHG Urban Harvest! Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring that our farms are healthy and thriving so that we can meet our mission of growing fresh produce for those in our community who lack access to healthy options in their neighborhoods. There are many ways to help us continue feeding and educating our community through our community garden.
Join our Garden Planting or Maintenance Team Individual volunteers are welcome to join us for Community Days on Saturdays from 9a-11:30a.
We can host volunteers on Wednesdays and Fridays - group size will determine location. If your group is over 12 people please reach out to Volunteer Coordinator, Sam Mendoza at kmhgjackson@gmail.com.
Responsibilities: There is a checklist on site that normally includes picking weeds, watering, and identifying any issues with the crops. Once completed, take a picture of your awesome work and text or email it to us.
Once you are signed up, we will send you an email with more information.
